Well I've tried to write an update three times now on this site and I think it's against me...somedays computers are not my friend! Currently I am splitting my time between touring Accents on Words and getting Practicum Theatre up and running. Well that and working another job, sleeping, going to the gym and....what? You have to book in time to see friends too? I think the only time I see them is if they come to my gigs!

I have to give a big up to Sean Merrigan from Spoiled Ink. He reviewed our Accents on Words show in Lewisham last Tuesday - how can you resist a title like Aoife Mannix and Heather Taylor rock the South London massive. It was the best title of a review I ever saw! (and no - it's not because my name is in it...)

It's been a busy last couple of weeks - I sent a submission into Greenwich Theatre yesterday to be the bookwriter of a 30 minute musical for youth...I really hope I get it! I find out next Friday. I have a 1 in 12 chance for this (I think) so fingers crossed everyone or at least send some good vibes this way.

A few days ago I taught another script writing class at Split Lit (my 3rd year baby! I love teaching that class) and then headed to Brighton with Aoife at 2. On the way down, halfway through our journey, a middle aged woman collapsed on the floor. We immediately got up to help her but to our shock NO ONE else moved. I dont even think some people looked up from their papers. There were the two of us rushing about getting help and making sure this woman was OK (thanks to the train staff who did come to our rescue when we found them!) but not one person on that train asked if they could do anything. In fact no one even stood up. I was so shocked! Are we so self absorbed now that no one will even come to the aid of someone in need of serious help? I hope this was just an unusual circumstance but I have a feeling we're all becoming little islands moving amoungst over islands.

Needless to say, the woman was fine (thank god!) and we got to spend a rainy day doing a talk at the University of Sussex and then performing to a great crowd at the Duke of York Cinema. It was a great reception even if we only had time to do half of Accents on Words for them but I think they liked it enough that they'll want to hear the other half sometime soon.

For all you theatre folk, make sure to submit to BREAKING NEWS: Rachel Corrie - Practicum Theatre are looking for plays 10 minutes and under about censorship, freedom of speech and more. Click here for more information.
